Instagram will stop supporting end-to-end encrypted messaging starting May 8. After the feature is removed, encrypted chats and calls will no longer be available on Instagram. However, users will still be able to download their existing encrypted conversations before May 8. Instagram's end-to-end encrypted messages were launched back in December 2023. With apps like WhatsApp and Zoom under fire for their privacy issues, alternative private messaging apps have gained popularity. Signal, launched in 2014 by Open Whisper System, is an open-source messaging app that allows users to send encrypted text messages, voice memos, and make video calls using the internet.
