Listen to article

Instagram will stop supporting end-to-end encrypted messaging starting May 8.

Instagram’s help page has revealed that end-to-end encryption messages will not be supported starting May 8.

Users with chats affected by the change will receive instructions on how to download messages and media they want to keep before the feature is removed. Some users may also need to update the Instagram app to access the download option.

After the feature is removed, encrypted chats and calls will no longer be available on Instagram. However, users will still be able to download their existing encrypted conversations before May 8.

Instagram’s end-to-end encrypted messages were launched back in December 2023.
