Instagram is rolling out three new features to encourage more engagement in the platform. These include Reposts, Instagram Map, and the Friends tab.

With Reports, users can now share public Reels and feed posts with their followers. The shared content will appear in a dedicated tab on a user’s profile, helping creators increase visibility.

Instagram Map is a location-sharing feature that lets users share where they are in real-time with selected friends. This feature is optional, and comes with privacy controls that let users pick out who can find them. Parents can manage how teens use this feature with supervision settings.
Lastly, the new Friends tab (found in Reels) highlights Reels that friends engage with. This includes comments, reposts, etc.
It will include content from Blends, which is Instagram’s shared recommendation feature. Users can manage what activity is visible, and can mute updates from specific accounts if desired.
The features are set to arrive soon. Users can check out the Play Store or App Store to see if there’s an update available.
