Google just released two new badges for the extensions which can be seen on the Chrome Web Store now. This badge describes extentions that “follows recommended practices for Chrome extensions”, which means that it follows the technical best practices and that the app meets the high standards of user experience and design. To get a Featured badge, there is a manual process to be done by Google to make sure that developers use the latest APIs and scrutinize the extension's privacy policies and the permissions that the extension is requesting. A big note from Google is that companies can’t suggest their own extensions for either of the two badges but they can nominate any existing extension for the Featured badge. With this development, the labels will surely help Chrome users feel more secure when they install extensions without any distress. Apple has loosened its grip on retro console emulators within the App Store.
