Last week, I was asked by @tjmanotoc to do a TV interview about those fake Facebook videos. The recent incident involving Vhong Navarro and Deniece Cornejo/Cedric Lee brought out a lot of opportunity to spread more of these deceptive or fake videos on YouTube. 2) Start peppering your FB page with re-hash videos from all over the place -- 9Gag, Vimeo, Reddit and even the most watched videos on YouTube just to get the ball rolling. 4) The FB Page owners would then start looking for similar videos that could either pass as the real one or they would transcribe a local news report, add relevant photos as a slide show and upload on YouTube. YouTube has introduced a new AI-powered tool that helps creators spot and remove deepfake videos using their faces or likeness without permission. Through this new system, creators can access a “Content Detection” tab in YouTube Studio to review flagged videos that might feature their likeness. If a video appears fake or altered, they can request YouTube to take it down. However, YouTube warned that the tool is still being developed, meaning it might sometimes show clips from a creator’s own channel instead of fake ones.
