It will roll out as a free upgrade to eligible Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come pre-loaded with Windows 11. According to the company, new eligible devices will be offered the upgrade first. The Windows 11 upgrade will then roll out to in-market devices “based on intelligence models that consider hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, age of device and other factors.” Those who have a Windows 10 PC eligible for the upgrade will be notified when the update is available. Microsoft targets to offer the free upgrade to Windows 11 to all eligible devices by mid-2022. The company says the Service Upgrade Program aims to provide year-round, unlimited free support with no hidden costs, helping devices stay reliable and secure for longer use.
