DJI has officially launched the Osmo Pocket 4P in the Philippines, introducing a new handheld camera with a dual-camera system, upgraded imaging capabilities, and a larger gimbal design. The Osmo Pocket 4P features a dual-camera setup consisting of a 20mm f/2.0 wide-angle camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and a 60mm f/1.8 telephoto camera with a 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor. The camera is mounted on a 3-axis mechanical gimbal and includes a 2-inch rotatable OLED display, three built-in microphones, 103GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot for additional storage. Other features include ActiveTrack 8.0, Advanced Smart Follow, gesture controls, Wi-Fi, USB 3.1 connectivity, in-camera timecode, and magnetic fill light support. Canon may be preparing to enter the pocket gimbal camera segment, based on a newly published patent that outlines a compact, stabilized handheld device aimed at content creators. The patent describes a compact camera with an integrated three-axis gimbal, a fixed lens, and a built-in screen housed within a handheld grip. Instead of simply cutting power, the camera would guide the gimbal into a safe resting position using sensors and image detection before turning off. Canon has reportedly filed multiple patents related to gimbal cameras over the past few years, with designs gradually shifting from experimental concepts to more practical, consumer-ready ideas.
