Globe Telecom announced the launch of its new Globe At Home GFiber plans, offering customers faster internet speeds and more flexible terms. The company highlighted that the new plans come with no lock-up period, a minimal piso cashout, and free installation, aiming to make the switch to fiber internet more accessible. So one of the most anticipated stuff I had to check out when I arrived here in Japan is their broadband internet speeds. After having problems with the (absence of a) LAN port in my Macbook Air, I fired up the browser and checked my internet speed. While our national broadband average is still nowhere near that of Singapore or Hong Kong, broadband and mobile internet speeds have significantly improved in the last few years. Median fixed-broadband speeds now hover around the mid to high-100Mbps. Why stability matters more than Mbps The pivot from speed to stability is rooted in how Filipinos actually use the internet. Urban centers like Metro Manila, parts of Cebu, and selected cities in CALABARZON enjoy relatively better fiber coverage and high‑speed options.
