Intel officially outs its 8th generation Coffee Lake Core processors today, and claims that the new chips will offer 40 percent speed boost compared to the 7th generation Core Kaby Lake chips. The Coffee Lake processors consist of two new Core i7 chips, and two new i5 chips, both in the company’s U Series of laptop processors. The 8th generation chips' architecture, both their CPU and their integrated GPU, is also similar to that of the 7th generation Kaby Lake, thus Intel calls the architecture of these chips "Kaby Lake refresh". Aside from that that, Intel has also confirmed Ice Lake, a successor to the Coffee Lake. August 21, 2017 in the United States will be host to two big events; a total solar eclipse, as well as the unveiling of Intel's 8th generation CPU's code-named Coffee Lake. Motherboard manufacturer ASRock confirmed on Twitter that Intel's new six-core Coffee Lake CPU's will not support motherboards using the Z270/170 chipset. No?Coffee Lake CPU is not compatibilble with 200 series motherboards. This move by Intel forces those who would want to upgrade their existing Skylake/Kaby Lake processor to a Coffee Lake one, to buy an entirely new motherboard.
