The version 8.1.1 specifically targets the older Apple products such as the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 to make them perform faster. After the rollout of the iOS 8, many users experienced that installing it on an older iPhone or iPad made their devices sluggish due to the software requiring faster processing speed and the like – it’s basically like putting the energy of a kid inside an old man’s body. Apple recognized this and made them push this 8.1.1 update that includes “bug fixes, increased stability and performance improvements for iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.” It's nice of Apple to still come out with updates for their older models and aren't just using their resources on new phones and tablets.
