So one of the most anticipated stuff I had to check out when I arrived here in Japan is their broadband internet speeds. Sun Cellular Wireless Broadband has upgraded its network to 3.5G (HSDPA) and dropped its unlimited monthly subscription fees to Sun subscribers. Existing Sun Postpaid Subscribers can also avail of the Wireless Broadband plan for an additional Php649 on their MSF. In terms of local search trends, “pinay” remained the most searched term in the Philippines, followed by “pinoy” and “japanese.” Other notable surges included “threesome” and “chinese”. For Q3 to Q4 2025, Globe recorded a Mobile Consistency Score of 87.51%, while its Fixed Broadband Consistency Score reached 88.84% in Q4 2025. Globe also reported year-on-year speed growth, with average mobile speeds reaching 34.8 Mbps (up 8%) and broadband speeds rising to 120.4 Mbps (up 36%). Filipinos in Japan can now send money directly to GCash accounts in the Philippines through PayForex, making remittances faster and easier without going to remittance centers. GCash announced that it has partnered with the operator of PayForex, a Japanese fund transfer platform, to make money transfers available for overseas Filipinos.
