Two new devices surfaced at MWC -- the 6-inch Grand Memo II LTE and the Open C that runs on Firefox OS. The ZTE Open C, on the other hand, is an entry-level phone that utilizes a Firefox OS. It is currently the first in its range to run Firefox OS and according to a ZTE executive, they used Firefox because it functions on HTML 5 and is more versatile. Soon after announcing their plans of integrating Mozilla’s HTML5-based platform on some of their upcoming handsets, Sony has ported the Firefox OS to Xperia E looking to get “valuable community feedback” from developers. These are the kind of handsets that Mozilla is looking to bank on initially as they establish their place in the OS wars. In addition to showcasing two Firefox OS handsets (Alcatel One Touch Fire and ZTE Fire) in a conference held in Mobile World Congress, Mozilla has recently announced the 18 telcos that they’ve teamed up with to aid them in their Open Web HTML5 efforts.
