Mozilla has created their infrastructure to be able to support an open extension ecosystem for Android. This will allow for more extensions to be available on the mobile browser.

“There is so much creative potential to unlock within the mobile browser space. Mozilla wants to provide developers with the best support we can so they’re equipped and empowered to build modern mobile WebExtensions,” said by Giorgio Natili, Firefox Director of Engineering.

The company has also stated that additional resources, guides, and community events will be available soon to support the transition.

With this, developers can expand their desktop extensions to Android mobile devices as well.
