OpenAI brings its Sora AI to Android

Listen to article
OpenAI has officially rolled out its Sora app on Android, bringing its viral AI video creator to more users across the US, Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam via the Google Play Store.
After debuting on iOS in September and surpassing 1 million downloads in just five days, Sora quickly became one of the most talked-about AI tools of 2025. The app offers a TikTok-style feed where users can create, remix, and share AI-generated videos, plus a “cameo” feature that lets you insert yourself or friends  into AI-generated scenes.

Still, the app hasn’t been without controversy. OpenAI faced criticism over deepfakes and copyright issues, forcing it to revise its content and rights policies. The latest version adds character cameos using reusable avatars, and OpenAI plans to let rightsholders monetize licensed character appearances in the near future. No word yet on when the app will roll out globally.
