A report by 9To5Mac and Supercharged claims that Apple is set to announce new iPad models with upgraded chipsets within the week as soon as Tuesday, October 17. The models expected to be refreshed are the iPad Air, iPad mini, and the base model iPad with most upgrades expected to be spec and processor updates rather than drastic design changes. It's expected that the iPad Air will feature the updated M2 chip while the iPad mini and base model iPad to pack in the A16 Bionic chip. There's also a rumor that says the new iPad mini will have a new display controller to lessen the effect of jelly scrolling which has been known to be an issue on the current 6th generation iPad mini. However, there are no reports suggesting that Apple will release any new iPad Pro models this time. The report states the new slate of iPads will include the iPad mini 7, entry-level iPad, and two new iPad Air models. As for the iPad mini 7, it's reported to keep the same design as the current iPad mini 6 but with a faster chip and refreshed internals. There's also a report that Apple's been testing out an updated version of the entry-level iPad with new spec upgrades as well but will also see the same design language reminiscent of the iPad Air with USB-C.
