To help build its Metaverse, users of Meta's VR headsets will now be able to create a Meta account together with a Meta Horizon profile starting this August, eliminating the need to use an existing Facebook account or Oculus account when signing up or logging in. Users who used to log in to their VR devices via their Oculus account can continue to do so until January 1, 2023. Meta has also stated that your Oculus friends will now become your followers and that you'll follow them by default with your Meta Horizon Profile. Facebook's transformation to Meta Facebook made a huge announcement in late October, changing its parent company name to "Meta." Although the parent company would remain to encompass the same collection of brands as before: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Oculus, it got a new intent, which is to refocus the company around the metaverse. Horizon Workrooms allows people to work together remotely in groups with the Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset. Combined with the new Oculus Remote Desktop companion app for Mac and Windows, you will have one-click access to your entire computer from VR. Facebook is also introducing Oculus Avatars and spatial audio technology. New customizations will be added to Oculus Avatars, which were launched earlier this year.
