In the research conducted by OpenSignal, it was found that the average overall download speed of 11.6 Mbps in Manila was 47% faster in contrast to Angeles' 7.9 Mbps. OpenSignal stated that while Manila is a cultural, economic, and political hub, Angeles, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Davao are also highly important regional business hubs that cater as the administrative center of their regions. OpenSignal added that "Operators typically focus their infrastructure and capacity upgrades in a country's largest cities as it allows them to target a large portion of their potential customer base in relatively compact areas. OpenSignal has released their Mobile Networks Update for August 2018, showing the 4G and 3G performance of the Philippines' two mobile operators, Globe Telecom and PLDT's Smart Communications. For this report, OpenSignal collected 949,285,077 data points from 76,034 users in the Philippines during the period: May 1 - Jul 29, 2018. You can read more about OpenSignal's report here.
