The move is part of a plan to build a round-the-clock real-time gross settlement system that supports instant domestic transfers, links with foreign payment networks, and enables services such as 24/7 remittances, cross-border ecommerce flows, and same-day settlement of the cash leg in bond trades. The feature lets fully verified users receive US dollar transfers and remittances straight into their GCash wallet without a US bank account.

The service targets freelancers, gig workers, and families receiving remittances from the United States. GCash cites Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data showing that the US accounts for about 40 percent of cash remittances from January to August 2025. Filipinos in Japan can now send money directly to GCash accounts in the Philippines through PayForex, making remittances faster and easier without going to remittance centers.
