Waze has recently announced adding RFID updates on its app to provide better routes for its users. Due to this, motorists must have radio-frequency identification (RFID) stickers installed on their vehicles when passing through expressways and major toll roads. Waze has rolled out a new feature that lets drivers with an RFID sticker to add their local passes, such as AutoSweep and EasyTrip on the app. Through the new feature, there will be an RFID notification badge popping up on the app ahead of a drive to encourage users to update their passes settings and add in their RFID badges, in case they already have one. News about the Land Transportation Office (LTO) implementing RFID tagging on all motor vehicles this October has been making the rounds of the evening news today. The ePass that thousands of cars use to drive thru tollways (NLEX and SLEX) is powered by RFID. This October 2009, the Department of Foreign Affairs will also implement RFID on all new Passports (ePassport).
