Samsung is set to launch their new Galaxy J8 smartphone in the Philippines, packing a 6-inch AMOLED display, octa-core CPU, and dual-rear cameras. The much awaited Omnia i900 from Samsung (see specs here) was released in the Philippines yesterday. While everybody is getting frustrated with the supposed Globe iPhone 3G pricing, the Samsung Omnia will definitely be a formidable alternative to the former. The Philippine price is pegged at Php34,000 for the 8GB version and Php38,000 for the 16GB -- unlocked and contract free (up to 32GB with external 16GB microSD card). The rumored new Samsung i8510 that tows in an 8-megapixel camera and a 16GB internal storage becomes official. This new Samsung i8510 phone will be named Innovate or Innov8. I reckon that the Samsung i8510 is positioned against the Nokia N95 while the Omnia is targetted as an iPhone alternative. LCD monitors from Samsung are getting better and better.
