Motorola's new Ming successor has been announced -- the Surf A3100 -- and will be scheduled to be shipped first to Asian markets this quarter. The Moto Surf A3100 runs on a Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 platform but Motorola added a UI on top so the phone owners can maximize the use of the touchscreen display. Globe Telecom is now offering volume-based mobile internet surfing plans with their Globe PowerSurf promo -- starting with 50MB for Php99, valid for 30 days. Here's the full pricing plan: Subscribers with Globe Postpaid Plan, My Super Plan, My Fully Loaded Plan, or My Super Circle Plan can avail of this offer except when you are on Load Tipid Plans, Load Allowance Plans, Globe Broadband Tattoo Plans or My SuperSurf Plans. The service auto-renews after the expiration date so you need to text PowerSurf Off to 8888 if you want to un-subscribe. So I looked at how Globe does their capping for unlimited mobile internet (SuperSurf) and found out that their Fair Use Policy has a somewhat similar strategy. Was wondering at first why they did it on a daily basis instead of monthly then realized that there's no 30-day SuperSurf for prepaid (just for postpaid). However, unlike Smart's Fair Use Policy which throttles you down to a slower speed, Globe's SuperSurf will totally disconnect you to their network when you reach the daily limit.
