TAMRON has announced the release of the 90mm f/2.8 Di III MACRO VXD (Model F072), a macro lens designed for full-frame Sony E-mount and Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. The lens will be available starting October 24, 2024, and is the latest in Tamron's long-standing line of macro lenses, continuing a legacy that began with the introduction of the company's first 90mm macro lens in 1979. Additionally, Tamron has incorporated its BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating, which minimizes ghosting and flare, ensuring high-quality images even in challenging backlit conditions. The macro capabilities of the lens are enhanced by Tamron's first-ever 12-blade circular aperture, providing smooth, circular bokeh and the ability to produce starburst effects when the aperture is stopped down. Tamron has also introduced a new lens hood design, featuring a sliding window that allows for easy adjustment of filters without needing to remove the hood—a feature that is particularly useful when working with polarizing or neutral density filters. In addition to its optical prowess, the lens offers fast and accurate autofocus, thanks to Tamron's VXD motor, which delivers excellent subject tracking and focus precision. The lens is also compatible with TAMRON Lens Utility software, allowing users to customize lens functions and update firmware.
