In a lunch event today, Globe Telecom and Tata Communications announced that their new submarine cable system has been activated and carrying traffic to the Philippines. Called the Tata Global Network - Intra Asia (TGN-IA), the cable system has been in plans since 2006 (even before the Taiwan earthquake that crippled internet in the Philippines). realme is preparing to kick off 2026 with the launch of its new realme 16 Pro Series 5G, teased in India as the brand’s next big mid-range “masterpiece.” The teaser shows a flat-frame design with a large rear camera module, clearly positioning the lineup as a camera-first device. While realme has yet to confirm the official launch date, reports point to a January 6, 2026 debut in India, consistent with the brand’s strategy of starting the year with a major Number Series refresh. For the Philippines, the best reference is the rollout of the realme 15 Series, which launched in India in late July 2025 and arrived locally about two months later in mid-September. According to a report from SmartPrix, the realme GT 8 Pro is set to arrive in India on November 20, moving from the earlier rumored November 11 schedule.
