According to a report from Bloomberg, Facebook is working on a video calling device geared towards home use. Smart Communications, the mobile arm of PLDT, has rolled out a new feature that lets its users make video calls directly from their phones without the need for apps like Messenger, Zoom, or WhatsApp. The new service uses Video over LTE (ViLTE) technology, which works almost the same as making a regular voice call. If you’re a Smart or TNT subscriber with an unlimited call package, you can now place high-quality video calls and the cost will already be covered by your voice subscription. While many Filipinos already rely on popular apps for video calls, Smart said that ViLTE provides a better and more stable experience. This expansion is meant to give customers smoother and faster services for video calls, streaming, and even mobile gaming. With ViLTE, Smart says it is taking communication to the next level by making video calling simpler and more accessible for everyone.
