vivo has finally released its newest book-type foldable in the Philippines: the vivo X Fold5. Notably, despite being a foldable, it comes with certain levels of ingress protection, including IP5X, IPX8, IPX9 ratings for dust and water resistance. vivo also claims its “kinematic” hinge can withstand up to 600,000 folds. Notably, this is the first time vivo has released its foldable offering globally. HUAWEI continues to lead China’s foldable smartphone market, taking a 72.6% share in Q2 2025, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). The surge is largely attributed to the popularity of the HUAWEI Pura X and its other foldable models. HONOR came in second with a 7.6% share, followed by vivo (5.5%), Xiaomi (5%), and OPPO (4.6%). Despite HUAWEI’s strong performance, overall foldable phone shipments in China dropped by 14% year-on-year, with just 2.21 million units sold.
