SmartBro WiMax Prices, Service Plans revealed

Listen to article

Smart is finally out with its WiMax service and posters have been spotted about the new SmartBro WiMax subscription plans.

Smart Bro WiMax is currently available in 2 plans:

SmartBro WiMax Plan 999
Up to 1 Mbps
Unlimited Usage Hours
Monthly Subscription Fee: Php999

SmartBro WiMax Plan 799
Up to 512kbps
Unlimited Hours
Monthly Subscription Fee: Php799

There’s no information on which areas or cities (an agent says it will be initially available in selected areas in Metro Manila or NCR) SmartBro WiMax will be available and how it’s going to differentiate itself from its existing SmartBro Share-It or SmartBro Fixed Wireless packages (which offers up to 2Mbps).

To get information for your area, you can call *1888 from your Smart cellphone or (02) 672.7277 on landline. You can also go to any Smart Wireless Center to inquire or subscribe.

i’ve been a subscriber of smart canopy type yon sa bulacan year 2005 pa and yon sa quezon city ko naman year 2007 pa. never ako nagkaproblem sa connection laging hataw at naka router pa kami kasi gamit namin ito sa mga site office namin. pa check nyo lang mabuti sa mga subcontractors/technician na nag iinstall ng unit kc minsan minamadali nila pag set-up at pag hindi mo tinutukan at tinitignan habang sineset=up un pc bara bara nila gagawin yon kc marami pa silang ibang iinstall. the more na mainstall the more kita nila from smart. TIP ko lang isave nyo lahat un set-up nila thru print screen as jpeg para masundan nyo at pag alam ng technician na nakakaintindi kayo gagawin nila ng maayos.

Hey guys I’m just sharing my SmartBro WiMAX experience.

I’m monitoring my SmartBro WiMAX everyday and put the details or my experience on my blog here http://mysmartbrowimaxdiary.blogspot.com/

I just noticed that everything is OK on my device.
Signal: 2 to 3 bars
Ping(google.com)Idle: 90 to 110ms – no request timed out
Download speed: 125kBps max – using flashget or torrent
Ping(google.com): 900 to 1100ms – a little bit request timed out

but when I browse, most of the time I always get “The Connection has timed out”. It only means that their backbone system/base station/access point/etc.. is really the problem.

About damn time!!! Sana open for more upgrades ang WiMax kesa 3G (which I believe has already reached its limit).

Hi 2 all most especially sa SMART hahaha! Well I’m a subscriber of Smart Bro Antenna (tama? hehe) last 2009,for first 3mos.the con.was good afterthen the connection started to hassle us, as they say “once in a bluemoon” ito nangyayari haha so after 1yr the SBro-Ant connection turned worst from 12nn to 7pm limited connection kami, itawag mo man o hindi sa CS wala rin silang nagawa haha so in short naka-1yr. and 4mos. kami sa SMART then switch kami sa GlobeWiMax “kuno” 1st hours of GWiMax sablay na agad parang yung nag-install lang ang pinakitaang gilas eh hehe, tinesting ko sa FB and YTube anak ng ang bagal magload ng page pati ng video sa YTube haha disappointed ako siyempre,..pero no choice eh!

Sa commercial ang lakas ng Globe sa personal thumbs down! and according to the Globe Sales Agent it’s a free installation we only have to down 500persos anak ng pating pagkatanggap ko ng 1st bill ko sa GWiMax 1,800+ ang babayaran minus the DPayment lalo kong nabadtrip.

So nag-decide akong ipa-cut 1mo.to be exact tutal naman sa kanila na galing na kapag di ka satisfied sa performance ng kanilang device este GWiMax eh may refund ka pa but when I went to GCenter de fungi nalaman ko na icha-charge ako ng x2 monthly bill for termination kung gusto ko raw ipa-disconnect kasi wala raw akong pinirmahan for 30 day trial!

T***na nung agent sabi niya anytime, pwede ipa-cut pero wala siyang binanggit bout sa pipirmahan 30day trial nor offering the said paper thou many times siyang tinanong ng kapatid ko about other payments.

Hindi ako biased because of my experienced I’m just saying the truth.Elib nga ko sa Globe kasi sa tawagan humahataw sa linaw ng linya eh.Nung i-demo samin itong SBWiMax before pickin’ up the kit the day after tomorrow, it shows 3 bars and the demo device was so fast but when I got my own SBWiMax device sakit din pala sa ulo! haha!

Gamit ko SmartBroWiMax up to 2mbps plan 999 kasi slow eh!

i have try globe wi-max. fair enough ang speed nya for 800 plans ata yun. the customer service okay din, magalang. ang problem ko lang is the connection after the typoon basyang. on the typoon day itself may connection pako plus after 2 days pa ng typhoon meron pa din. but on the 3rd day wala hinde nako maka connect. i keep on follow up my problem…we try to solve using the phone. they cant restore my connection, even 3 technicians on site na pumunta sa bahay they cant restore my internet. funny i have neighbor same globe wimax pero may connection sya. I cant really understand sa sya meron ako wala. they said na puno na yun slot to have a connection. i said panu yun slot ko dati. sira daw kaya hinde ako maka connect sa globe itself…the modem and connection sa tower is okay but the connection in the internet is not. so i tell the tech guy what should i do, they tell me wait wait lang makakaroon din yan. i have enough i tell them 10days nako naghihintay walang connection and your telling me to wait lang makakaroon din yan…eto im going to bring back their modem. and im not gonna pay them for the time na i didnt used. hope nakatulong sa inyo.

How come there is already an announcement ad and press release but the details are hidden? Why not full disclosure of area coverage, bandwith cap and other restrictions? this telco, they give advertising a bad name!

I have a bad experience with smartbro…
Maintenance everyday?Imagine malapit pa kami satower ng smart within the same barangay pa ha. ingat po kayo sa smart dito sa Bulacan 4 na kami nagpaputol ng smart nakakdala maganda lang siguro yan sa Manila. Di po ako employee ng globe or any telco’s ah…pero mas ok talaga PLDT DSL or Globe Wimax… di bumababa speedrate…

Unfortunately for broadband subscribers, SmartBro ventured on WiMax before upgrading their 3G infrastructures and bandwidth. Some still get speeds extremely lower than their advertised 2MBps speed (for some, they’re lucky enough to reach 500KBps). Poor them and all broadband victims. :(

all I can say is… ang bagal parin ng speed and overpriced parin compared to other countries @-) I believe these companies can still push it to around 2-3 Mbps for a thousand pesos. :|

hello guys! just want to share up my experience in wimax. currently im working here in Libya at sa company we’re using LibyaMax (Wimax), speed is quite amazing 2.5mbps download and I’m getting even more. The downside… you need a good signal basically your “location” is important, if your a gamer “ping” is a big issue here, and sorry guys sa tingin ko the same din dyan na share ang ip mo sa iba. This is just my experience

Why settle for a lesser speed? Personally, I don’t see this as a viable option for on the go.

But like what Teknisyan said, 3 providers should be better for us than just 1.

The Rate is the same but the speed is slower?

stick with smartbro upto 2mbps they should provide better speeds

WiMax and WiTribe would then be in danger

@Leo – like any other Smart service, there’s a lock-in period. Possibly similar to SmartBro Share-It at 24 months.

Looks like WiTribe will be outplayed by big outfits like Globe and Smart. I guess it’s all about the marketing.

I guess 3 is better than 1, atleast for a consumer’s point of view… any news about Bayantel’s own version of WiMax?
