Magsisimula noong Oktubre 2, 2023, ang mga gumagamit ng GCash ay kailangang magbayad ng PHP 5.00 para sa mga transaksyong cash-in sa pamamagitan ng Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) at UnionBank.

Ang pagbabagong ito ay "dahil sa tumataas na mga gastusin," ayon sa kamakailang in-update na dokumento ng suporta ng GCash. Mayroon pa ring mas kaunti kaysa dalawang buwan ang mga gumagamit upang makipag-enjoy sa libreng cash-ins sa pamamagitan ng nasabing mga bangko.

Maaari mong iwasan ang bagong bayad na ito sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng mga workaround tulad ng InstaPay o sa ibang platform ng iba pang bangko. At kung gusto kang magpakita, gumamit na lang ng PayPal cash-in, na patuloy na libre.

Kung ang ibang bangko ay maaaring magbigay ng mas mataas na bayad, mas lohikal na pumili sa P5 na bayad sa pag-cash-in ng GCash.

Hanggang sa kasalukuyan, ang Maya—isang kumpetenteng e-wallet at bangko—ay nagbibigay-daan sa mga gumagamit na mag-transfer ng pondo mula sa BPI nang walang bayad. Gayunpaman, hindi tulad ng GCash na walang minimum na halaga para sa mga transfer mula sa BPI, ang Maya ay nangangailangan ng minimum na halagang PHP 500 para sa pag-transfer.

The BSP and DTI should require that e-wallet and e-commerce companies provide at least one method of payment/cash-in without service fees as a condition of being allowed to operate.

Gcash and bpi is under the same group of company. They shouldn provide it free.

gcash is not getting advtge with there easy banking. and now getting there hard earned investment. but there are still loop hole. i can still cash in money at gcash for free. even they will implement that oct 2 policy.
