OpenAI is reportedly developing a unified desktop app that will combine ChatGPT, its browser and the Codex coding tool into a single platform.

According to reports from CNBC and The Wall Street Journal, the project will be led by Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s Chief of Applications with support from Greg Brockman.
The move aims to simplify the user experience and reduce fragmentation across multiple apps.
Internal discussions suggest the company wants to focus more on high productivity use cases. The new app’s AI is expected to act on its own to get things done. These agents could perform tasks like writing code, analyzing data and executing workflows with minimal user input.
The shift comes as OpenAI looks to combine its efforts after expanding across several products. The company has not officially announced the app or its release timeline.
