Coursera partners with OpenAI to launch first learning app in ChatGPT

Listen to article

Coursera has partnered with OpenAI to become one of the first apps integrated into ChatGPT, marking the first time an online learning platform is directly embedded in the chatbot.

The integration allows ChatGPT users to access Coursera’s educational videos and materials directly within conversations. This makes learning content easier to find and transforms everyday chats into interactive learning experiences. Users can access the Coursera app by asking ChatGPT for it by name, and the assistant will also suggest Coursera resources when relevant to a topic.

The app was built using OpenAI’s Apps SDK and aims to make high-quality education more accessible. It enables learners to explore verified course content and move from curiosity to certification faster.

According to Coursera, over 800 million people use ChatGPT weekly, with learning among its top use cases. The company says this partnership will make trusted academic material more available to a global audience.

The Coursera app is now available to logged-in ChatGPT users outside the EU across all plans — Free, Go, Plus, and Pro — in English. Video subtitles and dubbing are available in select languages.

Coursera and OpenAI plan to further expand the app’s features and explore new ways to make education more personal and scalable through AI.
