Aching for a movie night? While Netflix has yet to reach the country, here comes HOOQ, Asia's answer to growing demand for video streaming services.

This over-the-top (OTT) digital streaming service is made from a partnership between Singapore's SingTel, Warner Brothers Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Television. HOOQ will deliver both Hollywood blockbusters and television series, as well as popular local movies and programs to customers anytime, anywhere by enabling them to stream and download their favorite shows on their device or platform of choice.

At laught, HOOQ ay magawa isang katalog ng maraming laban na may pagkakaisa ng 10,000 mga pelikula at TV series na naglalayong tulong sa partners. Ang serbisyo ay ipakilala ang mga customer ng malaking panahon ng programas na makapag-stream, download at sumulat sa pamamaraan, maraming laban na naglalayong paggamit bilang blockbuster na may Spider-Man at Harry Potter at TV favorites na Friends at Gossip Girl. Ang mga customer ay magiging mas mapagmumuhay ng malaking panahon ng lokal na content na nagsusuri ng mga company. ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, GMA Network, Viva Entertainment at Regal Films ay nagpapatunang sa HOOQ upang sumasalin ng local na content.

The service is launching first in the country through partner mobile network Globe Telecom. Subscriptions will be available starting at Php199 a month on GoSurf and Tattoo Postpaid plans. Users who are not currently with Globe's network can also subscribe to the service for a different fee, to be announced in the future. As for the date we can all enjoy this new service, it will come "Very soon," according to now HOOQ CEO Peter Bithos.

This is a good idea especially since I’ve stopped waiting for shows on cable TV when I learned that I could watch shows anytime using the internet. This service specifically caters to that… without the guilt of having to illegally obtain the shows. It’s also great that we can download content and watch offline due to our slow internet connection. I just hope the quality is not as bad as ABS-CBN’s iWantTV.

I swear the quality of ABSCBN’s HQ option is as bad as Youtube’s 240p or even 180p. Not to mention it’s freaking slow to load.

Idea is a welcome one. But partnering with a telco will suck the joy from this experience. I can’t even get a stable LTE connection. With globe or smart.
Netflix has me glued so lets see how the delivery of hooked is implemented.

with the success of NETFLIX this is a good innovation, maybe there are flaws at first just any other starters but at least there is an area for improvement kasi may nasimulan na, keep it up HOOQ.

Wait, I don’t get the sentence about the getting Asian titles. It says that Asian titles will be provided by ABS, GMA, Regal and Viva? Or are you saying that the service will also get titles from the mentioned networks and film producers?

The shareholders were like: “WTF! Kung magsasaksak kami ng hidden ringing tone sa sangkatauhan, Ariana Grande na lang. Magsarili ka kung gusto mo!”.

And that ultimatum finally hit me. I finally decided to have my own content service company. I can now force One Direction videos to all the consumer phones to drain their load. Best of luck to me.

I am finally happy to get away from Globe. My ideas regarding hidden charges from One Direction ringing tones are being shutdown by the shareholders. Now that I have my own company, I am able and entitled to charge the users content that some are freely available elsewhere.

And again, I didn’t authorize this. This site keeps on misrepresenting me.

Goodluck sa HOOQ. Wala akong trust sa 199 per month na yan hanggat may data cap. Watching and streaming videos for about 15 minutes or more until Globe will reduce your speed. Kahit pa download lang ng mga apps sa google play ang ginagawa ko, binabawasan pa rin speed. Tapos sasabihin lang na maibabalik lang sa normal speed kung ie end ang current promo. Sayang lang ang unli ko for 3 days. Lang kwenta ang HSPA+ or 4G kung gang fb, instagram at twitter. Tapos sa movies? Hindi mo matatapos ang panood at di mo rin matatapos ang pag download ng movie.
