Canon Digital Cameras lead the pack

Our recent little survey here showed a huge lead by manufacturer Canon in the digital camera market. It looks like Canon is still the undisputed king of digicams.

Close to half (48.3%) of the respondents in our poll says they’re using or own a Canon digital camera. See complete results below:

Canon – 48.3%
Sony – 24.5%
Nikon – 7.3%
Kodak – 5.3%
Olympus – 5.3%
Casio – 2%
Fuji – 1.3%
Others – 6%

Sony came in second (24.5%) though only half as much as that of Canon. Nikon came 3rd (7.3%) followed by Olympus (5.3%), Casio (2%) and Fuji (1.3). Six percent of the respondents say they are using another brand of camera.

Canon Camera

Not sure which type or brand of camera those 6% owned. Could be a Minolta, Leica, Samsung, HP, Panasonic, Pentax, among others.

The results got me a little bit more curious. Are people buying digital cameras because of features, just the name brand or the price?

  1. People usually get the same brand that their friends use. Abe, what camera did you use for your online photo album?

  2. Or maybe, Nikon owners are not keen on replying to surveys like this. *wink*

  3. I actually don’t own a dedicated camera, digital or film. So, could I say Nokia? (Wait maybe I checked “Others” in the survey.)

  4. @ Manuel – been a Canon user all my life. Influenced by friends at first then later on trust in the brand, features and quality.

  5. One reason why Canon seems to be leading the pack locally is due to the fact that they provide good after sales service to their clients.

  6. The specs says it (search reviews) – color balance, aberration etc…plus handling – controls layout, speed etc. Add availability of expansion optics, go for Canon. Consider bang for your bucks.

  7. Im planning to buy a Canon cam, i like its features, price as well as aftersales service.
