LG launches KizON: Wearable designed for kids, and geeky parents

In this hyper-connected world that we live in, almost everything can be controlled using our smartphones and other smart devices. LG has taken that into account and came up with the LG KizON; a fairly large wristband that toddlers can wear which aids parents to keep track on their child’s whereabouts.

Because the LG KizON is designed with kids in mind, its design and functions are relatively straightforward. The wearable is equipped with GPS and Wi-Fi chip which reports the kid’s location which can be tracked using a smartphone or tablet via a download companion app.

On the front of the wearable is a circular button that activates the KizON’s feature called One Step Direct Call. What it does is it allows the wearer to dial a pre-configured, but updateable, number (presumably the parent’s or the guardian’s phone) to place a voice call.

Parents can also use this feature to contact their tikes directly using the KizON and if the kid doesn’t pick up within 10 seconds, the wearable will automatically pick up the call, allowing the parent to listen in on the kid’s surroundings.

LG KizON specs:

64MB RAM
125MB internal storage
2G/3G Network
400mAh battery
Dimension: 34.7 x 55.2 x 13.9mm
Colors: Blue, Pink, and Green

The SRP of the new LG KizON was not yet announced, but it will be available tomorrow in South Korea which will then be followed by a North America and Europe launch on the third quarter of the year.

  1. Wrist-phone receivers to keep track of the children; in the next few years, we have shoes, hats, & bags for tracking devices.

  2. If this is expensive, you’re putting your kid in danger. It could attract snatcher, and may give kidnapper a hint for their next target.

    • Agree, not suitable for Philippine society. Kung tulad tayo ng Japan na may 24/7 police station in every block pwede pa.
