The Palm Foleo didn’t see the light of day and I thought the idea of a smartphone terminal is a no-go. Surprisingly, there’s actually one made for smartphones — the Redfly Mobile Companion.

It’s like a netbook without any CPU, HDD, RAM or operating system — it’s just a terminal for your smartphone. It hooks up to your smartphone via USB cable or bluetooth.

It has an 8-inch screen (800×480 pixels) and weighs 2lbs. It has great battery life at a maximum of 8 hours. It works with a nice list of smartphones from HP, Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Palm, O2 and Trimble.

Redfly is listed on Amazon at a sale price of $199. The regular price of $399 is not attractive though.
