DropBox Pro doubled up to match Google Drive

DropBox succumbed to their loyal consumer’s request and decided to double their paid offering while maintaining the same price plans.

Following the update on their iPad app, the Cloud storage service provider announced that they’re increasing the storage capacity for their paid subscriptions.

Dropbox has increased their $9.99PHP 586INR 847EUR 10CNY 73 offering from 50GB to 100GB and their 100GB $99PHP 5,810INR 8,390EUR 94CNY 721 plan to 200GB. But if you feel that you need more space than that, they’re also offering a bigger 500GB storage capacity to house all your important files for $499PHP 29,284INR 42,290EUR 475CNY 3,632 a year.

If you’re currently subscribed to any of their paid subscription, there’s no reason to fret because your storage capacity will automatically upgraded.

In addition, if you’re planning to use Dropbox for your business, the company also has an enticing subscription for that called Teams. By subscribing to this plan, users are entitled for a seamless Centralized billing structure, phone support and a terabyte worth of storage capacity.

Since was launched several months ago, DropBox has been very aggressive to defend itself to prevent its loyal customers from shifting. They’ve introduced some enhancements like album auto-uploads and removing upload file size limits (in iOS). DropBox has also partnered with several handset manufacturers to gain new leads or retain customers (free 50GB upgrade to new SGS3 users for 2 years).

The upgrade is seen as an adjustment to better compete with Google Drive’s cheaper plans. Current monthly rates for Google Drive are $2.49PHP 146INR 211EUR 2CNY 18 for 25 GB, $4.99PHP 293INR 423EUR 5CNY 36 for 100 GB, and which goes up to 16TB at $0.05PHP 3INR 4EUR 0.05CNY 0.36 per GB.
