Is Apple the Republican and Microsoft the Democrat?

This is an odd comparison but you can blame me for watching too much of the Obama-McCain coverage on Fox News. Based on Apple’s series of ads on Mac vs. PC, there’s a revealing strategy compared to Microsoft’s latest commercial which features Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates.

Apple Commercial: Mac vs. PC

Microsoft Commercial: Shoe Circus

I could be wrong but I feel that Apple’s commercials are like the Republican campaign ads — always on the attack mode.

Where does that put Ubuntu and the open-source community? The Libertarian Party comes to mind.:)

Good comparison, though I think Mac heads would not welcome it. ;)

The MAC and PC caters two different market and audience some might prefer the MAC over the PC and vice-versa,

I’m a Mac user and I tend to vote republican, so the comparison doesn’t bother me :)

as long as they serve their purpose as Operating System, it’s fine with me. MAC or Windows or Ubuntu, couldn’t care less. =)

the bill gates ad made no sense.

and fox news is biased towards the republican party. it’s like trash news. you might as well just watch CNN or MSNBC. fox news, especially bill o’reilly is very very obnoxious and rude. they have no respect towards their guests and their guests’ opinions. it’s like road rage inside a studio.

anyways, mac or pc, i don’t really care. i can use both.

    You have it backwards.

    On the company itself:
Apple’s Steve Jobs is a Democrat; one of the major stockholders is Al Gore, a Democrat. Jobs has been donating to the Democratic party; in one year, he gave $50,000.

    On the ads
The Apple ads is Democrat, because the other guy, the bespetacled suit, resists change. Same with Republicans.
The Microsoft ad is too vague and very Republican in it’s simplemindedness

This question should have been Googled first, because the answer is too obvious.

@dennis, I was merely basing it on the way the commercials were made.

The Mac vs. PC commercial is an example of an “attack and mock the opponent”. The Microsoft commercial is like a “non-offensive and trivial story telling”.

That’s how I look at it after seeing dozens of McCain and Obama ads.

Personally, i can see where you’re coming from. The Mac ads were more straight to the point, like republicans and birth control, and the new Seinfeld Windows ad was a little more subtle and meandering, like most democratic messages.

Although to be honest, I kinda liked the Seinfeld ad. It was amusing enough and reminded me of Seinfeld when he was still funny. The Mac ads are more striking, but maybe the Seinfeld ads are a series that leads somewhere.

Funny that you think that because Jobs is a Democrat and Gates is a Republican.
