People trading out their iPhone 3Gs

Just this week alone, two iPhone 3G owners traded out their Apple-flavored phones in favor of other smart phones. Why? Reality sinked in — the iPhone is just not for them.

The first one sold their month-old 16GB iPhone 3G for Php32,000. The second one wants to get the Samsung Omnia i900 in exchange for his new iPhone 3G.

Asked why, he replied “Mas gusto ko yung may mobile windows. Can’t forward text messages.”

iPhone 3g

So okay, most of the reasons people didn’t like their iPhone 3G are because of the functionalities and features we already knew the device lack.

Sometimes, we ought to learn from our mistakes the hard expensive way. Me, I’m loving my iPhone 3G as an internet device. ;)

The iPhone aint for everyone. Whatever floats your boat. I think it applies to any phone except that everybody’s watching the iPhone these days.

I guess, app makers need to create more app for texters hahaha..

some open source community has already released copy and paste function for iPhone apps although those must be compatible or work with the open source code..

it doesn’t even have A2DP. that alone is enough to discourage me from buying an iPhone.

Now, use the proper tools for the job, want a really mobile internet device via cellular networks, get the iPhone 3G. Want to have TxtM8’s? A 3310 would do, even the old one-liner, it gets you laid much faster too than toting the iPhone… What ya reckon?

People trade in their phones all the time. It’s normal otherwise we’d all still be using those bricks from the 90’s.

On a somewhat related note, I wonder why people keep on justifying why they don’t want an iPhone on iPhone-related articles. I mean, I would’t go scour the net for blog posts about some other gadget and then take time to comment why I don’t want that gadget.

As for me, I’m having a blast with my iPhone and I agree with Abe, it’s one hell of an internet device.

i think its just a matter of knowing what you buy. dont just follow the trend or hype. check of what you are buying regardless if it is iphone category or winmobile, symbian phone or any other phones.

You should know if features fit to you.

As for the forwarding features of iphone, It can be solved. There are workarounds. I know a lot who are happy and contented with their iphone.

I’ll be buying this Iphone this coming week, just waiting to complete my requirements. heheh!

My only concern with the iPhone is the 3G/Edge connection. I’ve been using Smart’s 3G service for almost a year now and it works great with my Nokia E90. It’s my first time to use Globe’s 3G service and honestly, i’m not happy with it. I’m not sure if it’s the device or the telco’s fault. And yes, I agree with you Abe that the iPhone is such a wonderful internet device. Hope Safari will support flash already. What the iPhone lacks, my E90 makes up for it. Good to have these two powerful devices on hand.

The future is the web, e-mail and VoIP. The iPhone is the perfect device for it.

A2DP and SMS are just one of the minor issues people experience. I am willing to overlook that because there is so much more I could do with the device than just connect my iPhone via BT to my MBP or forward SMS.

Same here. No regrets on my iPhone 3G. Love using it for web browsing, calling, texting, PIM and of course Gaming!

imho, if the future is web, email, & voip, netbooks are the perfect devices for those features. they’re more practical too.

No regrets on selling my Iphone. Still a far cry from a windows mobile in terms of applications functions and other stuff. One thing great about the iphone is indeed the internet but my umpc solves that. :)

  32. Gravatar Icon Rich replied on Aug 6th, 2009 at 12:30 pm (32)

the Iphone is overrated and is just hyped-up by apple, but is far less useful than a windows mobile phone. its just the OS of Iphone that is making it a great browsing companion, but then when Windows Mobile gets fine-tuned, that advantage would soon be wiped-out.

i’d still go with my Windows Mobile-powered pocket pc phone. …lotsa free apps, familiar interface, lotsa models to choose from and not as pricey as an iPhone.

i frequently use the GPS in my iPhone 3G when I’m travelling because I have unlimited plans on this at 1.3k only in Globe.

    Nice thing in GPS, well,
it moves the location point as you travel along the road.
it pin point exactly where you are on the map.

    great device!

I can even scolded the taxi driver when he re-routes to farther place against my real destination.

    ayt!
