Lenovo ThinkPad T400s launched

Lenovo Philippines today launched a new ultralight and slim laptop for the business and enterprise market — several variants of the Lenovo ThinkPad T400s series.

This Thinkpad is one of the lightest in the 14″ category at just 1.77kg or 3.91 lbs. (as a point of comparison, the 14″ Acer Timeline is 1.9kg and the 12.1″ HP Pavillion DV2 is 1.73kg). It’s also just 0.83″ thin at its thickest base.

The top configuration includes:
Lenovo ThinkPad T400s
14.1″ display screen @ 1440×900 pixels
Intel Core 2 Duo SP 9600 2.53GHz (Low Voltage)
3GB DDR3 RAM
Intel X4500 Graphics
250GB SATA HDD
Built-in DVD-RW Dual-Layer or Blu-Ray
Gigabit LAN
WiFi 802.11n
5-in-1 card reader or 34mm ExpressCard
2MP webcam
Fingerprint Reader
VGA + Display Port
Bluetooth
6-cell battery (average of 6 hours battery life)

There are also options for WWAN, WiMax and Ultra WideBand (GPS). The 3G SIM slot is under the battery compartment but Lenovo says it’s currently locked to Verizon (they’ll need to talk to telcos in order for it to be usable in the Philippines; same with WiMax).

Lenovo also changes some keyboard sizes with specific focus on the extra-large delete (DEL) and escape (ESC) keys.

Price range varies between configuration but it could reach Php120,000+ with a 3-year warranty. Not really for regular folks like us but more targeted to business and enterprise users (thus the 3-year warranty).

Just wondering… how can the T400’s SIM slot be “locked to Verizon” when Verizon’s CDMA network does not use SIM cards (unlike GSM)?

According to the press release, it’s “Verizon or AT&T WWAN”. I guess the marketing guy might be referring to AT&T but said Verizon instead.

The specs are impressive. But the price….Well, at least the specs is something that everyone of us could just yearn for in this time and age.

Thinkpads are the best laptops made by Man and that is something the knowledgeable won’t deny.

Lenovo is one of the most trusted company. The Lenovo ThinkPad T400s has an amazing touchscreen. The keyboard is also very comfortable, typing is very easy. It is quite heavy in weight. The battery life disappoints a lot. People who are fond of gaming, this laptop is of no use. The only highlight is the amazing touchscreen. In terms of performance, its nice but not great.
