Bayan Broadband is now offering a new wireless internet plan on their CMDA network that starts at a low price of Php699 per month.
The service comes with a USB dongle similar to Globe Tattoo, Smart Plug-It and SWB only that it’s not on 3G but EVDO.

The broadband service plan includes:
Plan 256: Php699/month @ 256Kbps
Plan 512: Php999/month @ 512Kbps
You need to buy the USB dongle too at Php999 and be locked into the service for 24 months. The service is also limited to several cities in Metro Manila – QC, Makati, Manila, Las Pinas, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Muntinlupa, Pasay, Taguig, Marikina, San Juan, Antipolo and Cainta.
Bayan Broadband promises True Speed so when they say you have 512Kbps, you actually get that speed (as long as the signal is 4 bars).

I hope they will have prepaid plans soon.
I have a Sun Broadband sabi na up to 2Mbps pero most of the time eh nsa 200Kbps lng ang speed na nakukuha ko both sa manila at sa muntinlupa… Smart Bro/3G very reliable minimum 384Kbps-1Mbps depende sa signal at area… Sa Globe nmn nde ko p ntry…
512 kbps is low.
@bugoy & cris – I think this is Bayan’s answer to complaints by people that even if others are saying they offer up to 2Mbps, they don’t achieve those speeds.
Bayan’s proposition is that even if they only offer 512Kbps, it’s the actual speed and not “up to”.
Of course, that still remains to be seen and tested.
What’s their upload speed? If they can deliver 512Kbps upload, that will help encourage more Pinoys to host webinars.

200kilobytes downloading speed? Please be informed that the published speeds are in bits. Therefore 2megabits is equal to 256 Kilobytes per second(8 bits is equal to 1, byte therefore 2048bits/8bits = 256 bytes)
Peace ^_^
ano ba yung EVDO? Yuga what can you say about EVDO…good or bad…
Let’s hope Bayan gets to be true as they promised. And yes, sana may pre-paid. Nasa testing-the-waters pa sila kaya siguro naka-lock-in ng 2 years to build a base customer. I’m currently using Sun, pwede na rin but when downloading, SmartBro mas mabilis here in Las Pinas.
@Virtualstefan13 – Please re-read the posted replies, nowhere in the post said Kilobytes – it’s all Kbps. And it is rightly so, they spelled it with a small “b” which indicates that it is in bits. When you capitalize it, it means Bytes. FYI.
Thanks and regards to all. Enjoy your broadband!
at 2 years lock in. talo kayo dyan.
before that nakapagimprove na malamang mga network at hindi na 2mbps speed nila lampas pa.
second nakita nio ba yun disclaimer nila na at 4 bars? that means signal dependent lang din yan katulad ng other networks.
@Virtualstefan13 It’s literally 200Kilobits per second… Download speed is 20-25Kilobytes per second… I was referring to Bits at nde bytes…

@edmar espi: EVDO is a telecomms standard for high speed wireless broadband Internet that runs on CDMA. CMDA being the technology used by Bayan for its Bayan Wireless Landline service.

..”4 bars” in the not-so-fine print. As always it all depends on location. As in other Phil. telcos?

at least eh depende lng s no. of bars ng signal ang speed nila, eh yun globe at smart, kahit malakas ang cgnal, wla p dn, hindi maabot yun cnasabi nila na up to speed. pero sana nga totoo to, at sna mgkaron ng prepaid,
question is, can you get 4 bars?
they just want to get a market share but wireless is wireless…
locked in 24 mos??? no way… tapos bibili ng dongle pa? bad offer parati si bayantel.

Good pricing, but I guess it won’t sell well, especially to those people who have been victimized by other wireless ISPs. To see is to believe I guess.
hopefully the users can maximize the speed of 512kbps unlike those other networks. I still prefer Sun Broadband here in our area for the postpaid wireless broadband, compared to Globe Tattoo and Smart Bro.
does this mean na kapag may 4 bars ka at hindi ka nakahit ng 512 eh pwede ka magdemanda for false advertising?!
interesting.
