Globe Broadband Tattoo at 2Mbps

Okay, I think I spoke too soon. Just got this press release from Globe that they renamed their 3G internet service to Globe Broadband Tattoo.

Globe Broadband Tattoo, formerly known as Globe Visibility, uses a USB stick that works as a modem (more like a re-brand of Globe Visibility). Globe has also upgraded their network so users can get speeds of up to 2 Mbps.

Globe redesigned Globe Broadband Tattoo with some funky designs featuring artworks in black, orange, or blue.

The Globe Broadband Tattoo Prepaid Kit comes with a free Php100 load that is equivalent to five hours of free internet usage. Users still pay only Php5 per fifteen minutes with multiple connections.

Once users have consumed their free load, reloading the Globe Broadband Tattoo Prepaid SIM can be loaded like a regular prepaid SIM, whether through Share-A-Load, Globe Load or prepaid call cards.

Users may also opt for a postpaid plan for Globe Broadband Tattoo; there is a range of plans for as low as Php799/month with 60 free mobile internet hours.

Aside from using Globe Broadband Tattoo as a mobile Internet modem, the SIM card inside the USB can also be used for calls and sending text messages at regular cellphone rates. The USB also comes with a built-in expansion slot where users can insert their own microSD card for additional file storage.

The new Globe Broadband Tattoo Prepaid Kit is sold for only Php1,895.

Who is the manufacturer of their new data card? I hope it is still Huawei. I do not like the ZTE brand. Huawei rules!

  2. Is it really improved or they just re-branded the product?

  3. Alma says:

Yay!!! I hope this would work here in my area! By the way, Abe, I am getting a Globe Broadband soon… :) Tried Smart twice here but they said my area is DEAD! No signal at all. :( Wish me luck!

  4. neis says:

i just bought the other kit a week ago… wait a minute CALLS o.O on the modem?

Are their firmware upgrades for this modem: http://www.yugatech.com/blog/telecoms/globe-visibility-prepaid-now-at-php1895/ to allow calls?

I know we can simply switch the sim to a phone and instant calls, but my point is to make calls using the modem on your laptop.

  5. Stephen says:

I heard from a friend working in Globe’s mktg dept that this is just pure rebrand, since they’re desperately trying to get subscribers despite their weak network.

SMART has better network coverage, IMHO. PLDT is even investing in it even more this year.. You know now which side to stay on.

  6. yuga says:

Yup, looks like a re-brand although the 2Mbps is a mcuh welcome upgrade.

  7. Kiks says:

I’m not sure if the designs are cool, but they’re definitely a fresh look in the market.

I don’t believe in the network upgrade though.

Poster above is ryt… If they’re upgrading, SMART is upgrading even more…

  8. Jhay says:

Just another rebranding and a minor upgrade, compared to what Smart has been doing.

  9. CarloBlogg says:

ive never tried one of these things before, but Im saving up just to try this. Hope that it has a superb connection :D

Nice, that is really what I needed right now.
I like its new price. I got Globe 3G connection in my area, I like SmartBro but the connection in our area is still GPRS. Im really looking forward for this move from Globe. Case Closed! :D
    hehehe…

  11. Sport says:

abe, is there an unlimited plan that they’re offering? id like to try globe’s “tattoo” instead of sun cellular’s broadband.

    • yuga says:

Nope, they’ve discontinued their unlimited plans. No idea when and if they will bring it back though I’m always egging them to.

  12. rudy says:

can i use other networks sim like smart?

  13. Don't be fooled says:

It’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing! Globe is only good for their mobile phone services -__-; (and only because they were first).. They just want your money for this one, expect a lot of trouble calls once you start using this..

    Kill their broadband please// it’s cr*p. Agree?

  14. neis says:

    @yuga,

they still have their unlimited plans, though you need to apply it as corporate account… *coughs*

  15. jarod_0122 says:

I don’t know why Globe is lagging behind Sun. Di ba dapat ang order ay Smart, Globe at kulelat ang Sun?
They may think that people are d*mb enough to see the signs. One prominent symptoms of system downgrade is their inability to offer unlimited access.

  16. calvin says:

    new name same sucky service.

  17. Obed says:

I have Globe Visibility but its prepaid, the connection is not that great and the speed sucks. I recommend Sun Broadband Wirless, sometimes I get a 2.2mbps during midnights. You can read my review at this link: http://aloofkid.wordpress.com/2009/02/26/sun-broadband-wireless-review/

  18. I heard that this service is very slow. I think the smart version is better.

“The USB also comes with a built-in expansion slot where users can insert their own microSD card for additional file storage”

should’ve included a 2GB or 4GB microSD card in it.

abe could you show us a tutorial on how to share internet connection on this device on two to three PC’s or devices

    ie..
Globe Tatoo with multiple inet connections to:
    -Laptop 1,
    -N82
    -Desktop 1
    -PSP

    is that possible?..

  20. Unleashed says:

Is it practical to get one of these? I had a Globe Wireless Broadband at home, and the connection is very unstable. Its includes a wireless router but I am instructed not to move it or else my signal will be lost.

  21. david says:

I’ve got the original Globe Visibility unlimited, and it’s been inconsistent. There was a time I could get 1.3 mbps, but that time is gone. I get less than half that lately, and it’s just not reliable. 2 mbps upgrade? I don’t see it.

Compared to Smart prepaid, Smart is also not great, but it’s been more reliable than Globe when I’ve tested it. A lot could depend on your location, though, so if you have the ability to test both, that’s probably best to check for yourself.

  22. For everybody’s information. The speed depends on your location. You can say that smart bro will work better in your place but in the other place globe tattoo works better. 3G Network is a breathing network. So meaning to say the signal is moving and the speeds also depending on how many users in the area. Final words to say… Globe Tattoo is better tahn smartbro because GLobe had more cell sites than Smart.

Huawei is still the manufacturer of Globe Tattoo as well as the Sun Broadband.

  24. lurk says:

wish there was a way to try both of them out(smart bro and globe) without buying both to see which is better in our area the last thing i want is believe what the sales rep says

  25. Israel Nicolas says:

I just bought Globe Tattoo. The brand is just the sticker. Anyway I have a separate DSL in my house. I figure those who are complaining are the ones who depend on Visibility as their only source of home internet. But if you have this as a secondary connection, I think it works very well.
