I’m not sure what’s wrong really but for a week now, trackback spam attacks have been really really aggressive. I am still using Spam Karma 2 here and 99% of the trackback spams are killed off before seeing the light of day. However, other blogs that I help manage and running Akismet is getting a lot of beating lately.
The first impulse is to delete them all but Wordpress doesn’t have that feature to toggle checkboxes so you can tag comments en masse and delete them. I alway suggest that people take some time to flag each trackback as spam so that Akismet will “learn” from these oversight. Or maybe Akismet is just growing obsolete by the day.
Anybody else notice these trackback spam on their blog as well?

I think is feeling the heat. Spammers are getting very aggressive. On my fairly unpopular blog, I get around 500 tb spams a day and I am now deleting 20+ and growing trackback spams a day that gets thru akismet. I hope akismet won’t go the way of Blue Frog/Security.
Yup, a few weeks, last week of April I think… my blog was flooded with spam trackbacks. I was surprised that it got through at all. I also have akismet and Spam Karma 2 but it still got through. It was around 30-45 spam TB’s.
I did flagged them as spam and up to now, it’s still holding. Spammers have indeed become more aggressive, probably because they learned a lot since then.
Same experience here.
Just got attacked again, four spam TBs got through my anti-spam defenses, to think that I’ve already raised the level up on Spam Karma 2.
Updates are certainly needed.
i guess spam comes with popularity and traffic. the more you get of both, the more spam you get. i use only akismet and i don’t have any problems with spam trackbacks. but then, i don’t have that much traffic and blog popularity. hehe. i think most of you guys know it already but anyways, akismet released version 1.15 yesterday.
