We got 3 brand new laptops from MSI this week to test out and the first two were 14-inch laptops running on an Intel Core i3 processor — the MSI CR420 and the MSI CX420.
The two are almost twins, only separated at birth with the one having a more powerful discreet graphics card while the other uses the integrated graphics from Intel.

Both laptops come pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium. The CX420 comes with a 1GB DDR3 ATI Radeon HD5470 that should suffice your needs for gaming. That rig has a suggested retail price of Php35,995.
However, if you’re on a budget and don’t want a discreet graphics card but still looking to get a Core i3 laptop, the MSI CR420 is a more affordable option at only Php31,999. That’s about a 4 grand difference just for the Radeon HD5470.
Both units weight in at 2.2 kilograms (4.8lbs) so they’re not really that light to lug around. They’re more of a desktop replacement, IMO.
So far, there 2 models are among the cheapest in the Core i3 category (see our list of Core i3 laptops here) and should pose as a huge challenge to the competitors. More on this when we get the benchmark results for the Core i3 processor.

Destiny, sorry I’ve been busy nitong mga nakaraang araw. Yung dongle eh pina-plug sa USB port. Para lang siyang flashdrive, actually mas maliit siya ng konti. Yun na lang gamitin mo din para atleast may bluetooth. Mura lang siya, yung nabili ko 200 pesos lang.
un mga my problema sa bluetooth,,andun ung driver nya sa ksamang cd..nun una akla qdin wlang camera,bluetooth ito msi cx420..nun kinalkal q ung cd..andun lng pla ang hnhanap q..aun..ngamit qna lhat..try nyo manual search ung cd–>>C:\msi intel core i3-330m\G71-NDW1210\Win7 32\Bluetooth\2.1.2.193\Bluetooth 2.1.2.193.mp– okya install nyo lhat lman nun driver and utilities dun sa cd..
Yung mga bago labas na cx420 wla ng bluetooth.. Ung lappy ko mern april 2010 ko pa cya nbili.. Sorry guys.. Bili n lng kau ng dongle.. =(

Yung bluetooth destiny wala talaga. Bibili na lang ako ng dongle. =(
Nakita ko din sa ibang sites na optional pala ang bluetooth dito sa cr420 kaya di na lang ako nangulit sa binilhan ko, medyo malayo din kasi kung mamamasahe pa ko para sa bluetooth, ahaha. Somehow fault ko din kasi di ko na check nung binibili ko pa lang.
6 months na sakin yung CX420 ko. 2 beses na nasira hard disk. Nagtanong ako sa service center kung ano kadalasan complaint ng owner ng ganitong unit. Meron din daw nag-papaayos dahil nagfi-flicker yung screen.
tnx rainne..hopefully wala nga sna mging problem,,1month mhgit ko pa dn ito gamit,,dami kc negative post sa cx420,,w/c is kakambal ng cr420..useless tlga ung bluetooth nito,,ayaw tlga mgpa install :( post soon..
So far wala naman akong naeencounter na problem sa kanya. Pero one month pa lang kasi sa kin ang CR420. Mukhang wala namang magiging problema..

@xeon – bakit hindi gagana ng maayos ung switchable graphics kapag OEM ang gamit na OS? balak ko kasi bumili ng windows 7 professional na OEM.

Hello po. I own this laptop and I have a hard time dealing with the hard disk. Bumabagal sya mag boot hanggang sa mag fail na lang. I already sent it to the Service center. They fixed it but now nagbabadya na naman yung hard disk failure na maulit. Hi guys nagkaroon po ng problem ung laptop q..nagkaroon xa ng bluescreen error tapos kpag binukbuksan xa matagal na magboot.. sinubukan q na i reformat ng ireformat at isystem restore pre gnun pa din.. matagal mag boot. pag nagboot up na xa “program has stopped working namn”… like gfxUI.exe,reader_sl.exe, catalyst control tsaka ung avast. pa elp po sana q… 6months pa lng sakin 2 tnx
paps… sakit po ng msi cx420 ang sirain nyang hard disk… un tlga ang pnka issue sa model na e2… if i believe… Western Digital ung brand ng hard disk…. i just bought my msi cx420 dis may 2011, and ive researched the consa nd pros of this laptop i bought,,, its kinda dissapointing though..
