Sharp unveils two new funky TV sets

This was supposed to be last week’s coverage but I got side-tracked. Last Friday, Sharp Electronics unveiled their new line of 21″ and 29″ TV sets — the Great Alexander and the Alexander PRO series. See pictures after the jump.

The distinguishing feature includes bigger built-in speakers in a what I would call a rather retro design.

Sharp Alexander

Sharp is more commonly known for their popular line of Aquos LCD TVs, so this one is a clear departure from their usual approach. Of course, they stressed this line-up to be more audibly superior compared to other competing brands of the same screen size. At 7.5 watts (rms) for each of the two built-in speakers, you can distinguish the units because of the added umph.

I’m not sure if the SRP is also at par with current market prices — Php12,998 for the 21″ and Php23,998 for the 29″.

I guess this is Sharp’s way of disposing their existing inventory of CRTs. I understand that by next year all manufacturers will stop CRT production and will go into LCD or plasma production instead.
