Apple announces OS X El Capitan

Apple today announced a new version of its PC operating system which it codenamed El Capitan (OS X 10.11). The free upgrade is scheduled for release sometime after September.


Most of the improvements were done under the hood but the ones that enhances usr experience will be noticeable like Split View which automatically positions two apps side by side or the Spaces Bar which makes it easier to create multiple desktops.

Overall system performance has also been improved over Yosemite. Launching apps is 40% faster, switching between apps is 100% faster, opening of PDF files is 300% faster in Preview with El Capitan.

OS X El Capitan will be available as a developer beta today and as a public beta this summer.
