Google debunks Gmail database hack reports

Google has posted on their official blog in regards to claims of a Google data breach involving all 2.5 billion Gmail users. They have stated that the rumors are false.

There have been speculations circling around stating that there has been a Google database hack. It mentions how all 2.5 billion Gmail users may be at risk. The company has created a post dismissing these stories.

“We want to reassure our users that Gmail’s protections are strong and effective. Several inaccurate claims surfaced recently that incorrectly stated that we issued a broad warning to all Gmail users about a major Gmail security issue. This is entirely false,” The brand says in their blog, “While it’s always the case that phishers are looking for ways to infiltrate inboxes, our protections continue to block more than 99.9% of phishing and malware attempts from reaching users.”

Google has also mentioned that users who would wish for additional protection, they should have secure password alternatives such as Passkeys and follow their practices to spot and report phishing attacks.
