Gateway EC13N01i w/ dual core Athlon II Neo

We’re starting to see more netbooks running the newer AMD Athlon II Neo processors that can be considered in the ULV category. The Gateway EC13N01i is one of them, sporting a dual-core 1.3GHz CPU and a healthy 2MB cache.

Gateway EC13N01i
11.6″ display @ 1366×768 pixel resolution
AMD Athlon II Neo dual-core K325 @ 1.3GHz
2GB DDR3
ATI Radeon HD 4225 w/ 384MB VRAM
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Gigabit LAN
Bluetooth 3.0+HS
5-in-1 card reader
3 x USB 2.0 ports
HDMI port
Windows 7 Home Basic

The K325 has the same TDP (12 watts) as the K125 of the Aspire One 721 I reviewed earlier. I’m expecting the K325 to perform better while consuming the same amount of juice. Good thing Gateway put a 6-cell 5800mAh battery in it.

The unit is selling for Php27,900 in stores. It will be interesting to pit this against the Acer Timeline 1810tz running a dual-core Pentium 1.3GHz processor.

  1. sir yuga, i have 2 questions: which is a better choice in terms of specs: asus 1201N or Acer Aspire One 721?

And i don’t have any idea about computer processors, we have Intel Pentium 4 1.7 ghz in our desktop, and when i play Cafe world here in FB, it lags, i would like to have an idea if the processors in the 2 ntbks. i’ve mentioned. above are way better than this?

    Pls. reply, thanks so much

  2. sir yuga, i have 2 questions: which is a better choice in terms of specs: asus 1201N or Acer Aspire One 721?

And i don’t have any idea about computer processors and stuffs, we have Intel Pentium 4 1.7 ghz in our desktop, and when i play Cafe world here in FB, it lags (i don’t know if it’s the main reason why it lags), i would like to have an idea if the processors and graphics,game/video cards in the 2 ntbks. i’ve mentioned. above are good enough to play pc games?

    Pls. reply, thanks so much!

  3. @ sir abe

bakit po may neo? d po ba competitor ng gateway ang neo?

  4. Ser do you have news on any other netbooks running on AMD Nile.

AFAIK Acer-Gateway are the only ones available right now.

Any news on HP and Toshiba???

  5. the specs of Acer AO721 is a single core with 250GB hard disk space and Gateway EC13N01i is dual core with 350GB hard disk space and the rest of the specs are all the same , my question is which of the two has the best performance?

  6. well i prefer the gateway EC13N01i because it has a powerful processor which is the AMD Athlon II Neo dual-core K325 @ 1.3GHz and besides it is dual core so the processor speed is 2.6Ghz than the asus 1201N or Acer Aspire One 721 who has a intel atom a very weak processor but energy efficient and the best thing about gateway EC13N01i is the grapic processor which is the ATI Radeon™ HD 4225 graphics with 384MB of dedicated system memory, supporting Unified Video Decoder 2 (UVD2), OpenGL® 2.0, OpenEXR High Dynamic-Range (HDR) technology, Shader Model 4.1, Microsoft® DirectX® 10.1 than the grapic processor of the asus and acer which is intel also,.so for me the best device is the
    gateway EC13N01i

  7. ^err, 1.3Ghz dual core doesn’t mean it is 2.6Ghz overall.

  8. oh I’m sorry, your correct, Yes it is not 2.6ghz overall. But the good thing is that it’s dual core and every core has 1.3Ghz which means that if you are running multiple application the 2 core can help each other by dividing the application in to 2. one for the other core and one for the main core.

  9. I saw one in Acer at SM North EDSA Annex. It’s really thin and light, and the keys are similar to those of Acer Timeline 1810TZ.

How long does the 6-cell 5800mAh battery last?
And which is still better overall: Gateway EC13N01i or Acer 1810TZ?

  10. [quote]http://www.yugatech.com/blog/personal-computing/gateway-ec19c10i-11-inch-core-i5-notebook/

There’s an Acer TimelineX equivalent of this one but it’s not yet available in the Philippines (had to order one from Amazon)./[quote]

I’ve read from the above link that you’re ordering from Amazon; i’m interested to buy EC13N01i with TURION X2 version; based from your experience, may i know the tariff (in percent) that the BOC is charging for LAPTOP computers…

    thanks…
