Google Identity Check rolling out soon

Listen to article

Google Identity Check is rolling out soon. The feature is coming to Pixel phones running Android 15 and Samsung devices running One UI 7.

The feature will need a user’s biometric authentication for certain device settings in untrusted locations. Simply put, it uses this information to verify if a user really is on their device or not.

This prevents thieves from changing things like device PIN, biometrics, and turning off Find My Device. Plus, it will also keep them from factory resetting your device or accessing sensitive information.

Google also says this will be made available to other Android devices (OEMs) over the course of the year. This adds to the existing protection features like Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock introduced last year.
