Contest: YugaTech-BlackBerry dare you to Be Bold

Last time we gave away a BlackBerry handset from RIM was back in December. This time RIM is giving away a brand new BlackBerry . Check out the mechanics below to learn how you can score a new Bold 9900.

This is just a simple photo contest but this time, we’d like you to be more daring.

1. Share a photo of yourself daring to do something that is beyond your comfort zone. You can upload the photo anywhere (Flickr, Picasa, etc. or their blog) as long as the photo is viewable by the public.

2. Title your post “Yugatech & BlackBerry dare you to BE BOLD” and include a short write-up on why that task is a bold move for you. This should be included in the uploaded photo with a link back to this contest page.

3. Entries should not cause harm to yourself or insult and injury to other people (this way, we ensure that the entries are all wholesome).

4. Leave a comment below with your link entry and complete name (as well as email) so we can verify your participation.

That’s it! You can start submitting your photo entries today and we’ll close the submission by midnight of April 14. You cna submit as many entries as you want as long as it’s a new dare.

I will pick my top 5 entries to submit to the folks at RIM and they will pick the winner for the Bold 9900. RIM tells me I can pick the winner myself so I will do just that.

Disclosure: RIM provided for the prize for this contest.

Note: Just in case you missed it, we are also giving away 10 units of Nokia C3 here.

One professor asked me what my biggest dark secret was. I said to him that I am a frustrated swimmer. In my age I do not know how to swim and was very afraid to do so. A fear of swimming actually is a natural psychological reaction to water. Anthropologically, humans are land dwellers and swimming doesn’t come naturally to many. Any nervousness that I feel around the water is perfectly normal and is an instinctual reaction. Still, a fear of swimming that goes unchecked might not only ostracize me from the general public, but also can be deadly if I find myself in deep water without the ability to swim.

By understanding my fears and working to feel comfortable around the water, I was able to learn to swim. At age 26, I gathered my confidence and became resilient to accomplish my goal. That is to learn the basics of swimming by myself. This may be shallow to many but for me it is something big. All my life I was afraid to swim or even join my barkada and friends in outings because they may laugh at me knowing I am not even able to swim properly. I experienced this when I was young, I do not know how to swim and my friends laughed at me. Having the courage to train myself and motivate myself not to give up until I learn is one of the boldest move I’ve done in my life.

  22. want some bold!? here’s mine…

  23. I’m really a fan of radio industry, as early as high school after my class, I’ll just listen to the radio then my day continuously works. And by that time, I’m beginning to be a fan of RX 9.1 “The Morning Rush”. Then it goes on until college that my day wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t listen to them, but when I’m busy I’m just downloading their podcasts.
I always want to join their monthly EB, where The Morning Rush (Rushers) are going to the station to meet and greet Chico and Delamar, but my schedule seemed not cooperating. When the time times come that they are celebrating their 15th Anniversary, I really want to join which will be held on Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at Ortigas Park. But there are issues that are haunting me: 1. I don’t know any “Rushers” personally that I can interact with on the event; 2. I don’t have any social event that I attended that includes interacting with many people which shows my low self-confidence.
No matter my low self-esteem dominates over me, I joined the event. And in the event I saw many people that are listening to the live radio broadcast. So I’m there listening and when the radio show is off air I was surprised to myself that I’m talking to the people whose around me and it seemed that my fear of rejection was easily swept away by confidence I never I had. Throughout the event I enjoyed talking, laughing, sharing things with the people around me and it seemed that I’ve done it for the first time in my life and inside myself it’s a great achievement that taking risks and try no matter what your fears are.
And when for the picture taking comes Chico and Delamar asked “Magkaka-kilala kayo?” and we answered “No” then we burst into laugh and then we took this picture that simply proves no shows that no matter how I fear the rejection of people, being in the crowd that I don’t know any single person, I proved to myself that I can easily conquer that if I’m going to try.
Now, I still listen to The Morning Rush and they never failed to make my morning filled with laughter, kilig, and smile. And the people I met in the event, we are always fun chitchat and some of them I got to see and interact through another events!

  24. I wish upon a star that u will pick me :) well, i will pray now but it is really fun to join this contest.

I’m not really a fan of seafood and anything “malansa” but because of a dare from people I just knew from a tour at the Underground River, I was able to try and eat a squirming worm locally called “tamilok” in Palawan. Though the locals said it’s an aphrodisiac, but hey – it’s not easy doing this dare most especially in front of my crush (the guy who’s watching the act). Well that makes this act bolder than the actual consumption of the worm. LOL. Plus, he doesn’t know he is my crush as he’s not really aware I’m gay, so another point for me for being BOLD. Haha!

  29. I’m not sure if this qualify since the mechanics says that it’s a photo contest, then again, it says “of yourself daring to do something outside your comfort zone.”

So i’m not sending a photo, rather, in including an entire blog:

    http://sevenh8reds.wordpress.com

I’ve always been afraid of writing and speaking in English simply because, unlike my friends and colleagues, my speaking and writing skills were laughable. In fact, I was ridiculed/humliated when I joined the audition to be a radio jock.

English was never my comfort zone but the embarassing experience became my inspiration to train myself to speak and write.

Now, I blog to help fresh graduates and newcomers in the call center industry to get a fighting chance whenever being interviewed for the job.

I’m currently using my old but highly reliable Blackberry 9300 for blogging, responding to questions, managing comments, and viewing the site stats, I hoping to get this BB Bold as I’m sure it will help me become more efficient as a blogger.

    Thanks.
