Apple in talks with Google for licensing Gemini for iPhones

Listen to article

Bloomberg reported that Apple is in talks with Google to license Gemini AI models for iPhones.

This is in line with the upcoming iOS 18 release, one of the biggest updates in their software history.
iOS 18 is expected to feature generative AI, much to everyone’s anticipation.

According to this report, Apple will bring new features for AI developed from their own large language model (LLM) codenamed Ajax.

It’s rumored to cost the company millions of dollars per day to train, but it’s more likely for Apple to take the licensing route for iOS 18 instead.

The deal will likely push through with the two companies already in business. For context, Apple and Google have a high profile search engine deal that yielded the former $18 billion in a year.

However, don’t expect Apple to make any announcements prior to the unveiling of iOS 18.
