Five new sport categories are being added to Strava’s activity tracking choices, providing its 180 million+ members worldwide with additional ways to precisely record their activities. Basketball, cricket, dance, padel, and volleyball are among the recently added activities.
The update enables users to track their activities through dedicated sports tracking which exists in addition to existing 50 sports on the platform.
Strava identified padel as its most important new sport because it attracts players from around the world who compete in various levels and professional players who exceed 30 million worldwide. The company introduced new categories because they want to show the actual training patterns and movement behavior of their community members.
Strava confirmed that it will introduce new activity types in the future but the company has not yet disclosed which sports will be included or their upcoming release schedule.
