Gmail’s new feature makes it easier to unsubscribe from mailing lists

Listen to article

Google is rolling out a new feature in Gmail aimed at helping users declutter subscription emails from their inboxes.

Called “Manage subscriptions,” this new tab shows a list of all the email subscriptions you’ve received recently, with the most frequent senders placed at the top.

Each entry comes with a quick unsubscribe button, allowing users to leave mailing lists with just one tap. The feature also shows how many emails each sender has sent in recent weeks, giving users a clearer picture of who’s taking up space on their inbox.

This is undoubtedly a handy tool, as many mailing lists either hide the unsubscribe button in very small text or fail to provide one at all.

To find the feature, open the Gmail sidebar (top left corner of your inbox) and look for “Manage subscriptions” in the menu.

If you don’t see it yet, don’t worry. According to Google, the rollout has started on the web version today, with the Android app getting it on July 14, followed by the iOS version on July 21. It may take a few weeks before it appears for everyone.

The feature will be available to users with personal Google accounts, as well as to Google Workspace and Workspace Individual subscribers in select countries. Google, however, has not specified which countries will have access to the feature.
